Indian Government aims to Move Over 65 Million Living in Slums to Decent Houses in Next 5 Years

In Delhi, at a function held at World Habitat Day, reportedly it was stated by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, Hardeep Singh, that construction of 28 lakh affordable houses for economically weaker section, low and middle income groups has been approved so far under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and he said that Yojana has been designed to ensure that every single individual has a house with access to water, sanitation and pukka roads.

Minister, Mr Puri, reportedly said, the government has taken several initiatives to give a boost to the housing sector and in particular to affordable housing to meet the housing needs of the people, saying integrated and holistic approach to housing will help in ending poverty and achieving inclusive urban prosperity for all, said media news report.
